Book Creator Demo - Help
This help guide will get you started on our demo page.
1. Login for Demo Page
You do not need to login for the demo page. Just click on demo button and you will be able to have a play!
2. Entering Text
The text style and size is fixed so that the finished book has a consistant look throughout. Your own text ie Name, Captions and Paragraphs can be entered in on the page in set places. These places are located by text boxes and text prompts for example 'Enter Caption Here' 'Enter Pupil Name' 'Type over the text here'.
How to type in text:
Highlight the prompt and begin to type - the prompt text will disappear. Please make sure all prompt texts are removed or they will be printed on the page as well.
3. Changing Paragraph Headings
On the pupil profile page you can choose the heading you would like to have for each of the paragraph sections. In this way each child could choose to write about a different combination of subjects. All profile pages have the section 'About Me' as a set heading followed by four sections that can display a range of different headings.
How to change the headings:
Right click on the heading that already exists in the heading box. The box will change colour and an arrow will appear at the end of the box. Right click on the arrow to show a drop down menu. Use the scroll bar to view all options. Click on the heading you would like.
4. Enlarging the Page
This feature allows you to enlarge the book page. You may wish to use this for special needs, younger pupils or for editing/marking pupils work.
How to enlarge the page:
The zoom bar is located in the control panel at the top of the page. Click on the triangular pointer and drag it towards the 200% to enlarge.
5. Loading Images
If you are logged in on the demo version or you have logged in as a user you may upload your own images. Images can be loaded one at a time. The larger the image the longer it will take to load. Images must be at least 300dpi - a standard photo quality.
How to load images:
Click on the 'Images' button located on the lefthand control panel. Then click on 'Add Image'. The dialogue box that opens will allow you to navigate your own computer to locate 'My Photos'. Open the file you require and click on the image you want so that it is hilighted. Now click on 'Open' which is located on the bottom right of the dialogue box. Your image will now load and you will be able to see it appear in the lefthand control panel.
6. Moving your images onto the page
Use the appropriately orientated image for the frame set out on the page. If you put a landscape picture into a portrait box a hand icon will appear, this will allow you to move your image to the best position within the box.
How to move your images:
Move your mouse so that the cursor is over the image you wish to use from the control panel on the right. Click on the image and keep the mouse button depressed. Drag the mouse so that the cursor moves across the page. When the cursor is over the photo frame you require let go of your mouse button. Your image will now fit to the size of this frame.
How to change your image:
You may wish to try photos in different locations on the page, you can do this by moving another image into the frame. The old image will be replaced.
7. Changing the theme
We currently have three themes 'Bubbles','Smudge' and 'Retro'. If you have created the page in one style it is possible to select a different style and your text and photos will move to the new style. In this way you can view both styles before you make a decision about the style of book you would like to create.
How to change the theme:
Click on the 'Theme/Colour' button in the control panel on the right. From the drop down menu either click on 'Bubbles', 'Smudge' or 'Retro'. Allow a few seconds for your data and images to load in the new style.
8. Changing the Colour
On our demo page we have a small range of colour options to choose from. A wider range is available in our full version.
How to change the colour:
Click on the 'Theme/Colour' button in the control panel on the right. Then click on the box which displays the current colour on the page. A drop down menu of other colour options will appear. Click on the colour scheme you require and wait for your page to reload in this colour.
